Gal Gadot votes in Israel and receives university honor

Gal Gadot cast her ballot in the Israeli Knesset election on Tuesday morning.

She posted a video to her Instagram story showing the moment she voted. In the clip, she picks up an envelope and walks into a booth. She speaks in Hebrew, telling followers to exercise their democratic right to vote for whoever they believe in. She hopes the results will be a double blessing for everyone. The post ends with a photo of her placing the envelope in the box.

Gadot is one of an estimated 70,000 Israelis living abroad who returned home to participate in the vote. She lives most of the year in Los Angeles with her husband, Jaron Varsano, and their four daughters. She is originally from Rosh HaAyin.

Her visit to Israel began on Monday when she traveled to Bar Ilan University. The institution held a gala to celebrate its 70th anniversary. Gadot received an honorary doctorate during the event. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff also received an honorary doctorate at the ceremony.

While accepting the award, Gadot addressed the challenges facing Jewish communities globally. She noted that antisemitism persists despite the distance she travels from home. She described Israel as her home and her people as her family. She called the upcoming vote a pivotal moment for the country.

Gadot stated that the polls would open for what might be the most momentous election in years. She urged citizens to vote with a sense of responsibility for the men and women who call the country home. She emphasized that this was a powerful civic right.

On Tuesday night, Gadot will appear on the comedy show Eretz Nehederet after the polls close. She is currently starring in the thriller The Runner on Prime Video. She will also appear in the upcoming Fast and Furious film titled Fast Forever.
